Have you ever been to Duka Bay? If you have, that makes the two of us. If you haven't, then... You surely missed a quarter of your life. Just a quarter. It's still High School, after all.
Being in Duka Bay was a once in a lifetime experience... Well, for someone like me. I usually don't get to go to trips like these. Since I had the chance, then why not grab it?
The trip was actually a requirement for us, Seniors in MSU - IIT Integrated Developmental School. During Science Month Celebrations, the school sponsors a field trip for the students once in a school year. I remembered, days before the trip, the whole Senior batch was busy because of DiscArte, a film festival in our school, which was also a requirement for our Information Technology subject. Everybody was deprived of sleep. And didn't really have the time to get ready for the trip. But, even so, everyone was so excited for the trip, sleep-deprived or not.
The assembly time was 4:30 in the morning. I got ready the night before the trip. I slept at about 10:00 in the evening, I think. And I woke up at about 3:00 in the morning. I arrived at school a bit late. When I arrived, the coordinators were already giving the instructions for us to follow during the trip. At about 5:00, each of us went inside our assigned vans. We were the lucky ones to have the van with the least number of people, while the other vans were full. We also befriended a Sophomore student who was assigned to our van.
The ride was, should I say, fun. We were all girls in the van, so we talked about anything and everything. We even had music jamming sessions that really made us enjoy the trip. And we also learned, that we'll be arriving at our destination in about 4 hours. We had no other choice but to... sleep. We couldn't chatter all the way, so we slept for the remaining minutes of the trip. We never wasted our time. We were sleep-deprived, after all.
It was about 10:00 or 11:00 in the morning, when we arrived at Duka Bay. It was cold and we didn't know what to do first. We just enjoyed the view and was amazed of the beautiful sight. It was also my first time to be in this resort with my friends, so why not enjoy it while I can?
Activities and games were keeping the whole batch busy. Each student was assigned to a group, a group in which the members weren't that close. The activities, by far, made the batch closer. It really showed that even those students who aren't that close can have teamwork and camaraderie in just mere minutes.
We did kayaking. We even did scuba-diving and fed the fishes with bread. We also watched the different kinds of fishes underwater while riding the so-called "glass boat." We even saw an underwater cave, which, I think, was pretty amazing. In the midst of these, we were able to witness a wedding reception, which was heart-warming.
For the rest of the trip home, well, you could say that all of us were dead. Everyone in the van barely spoke. And each of us devoted the time sleeping.
By the time we arrived at school, that was about 9:00 in the evening, we decided to have dinner. For all I know, I arrived home at 10:00 in the evening. It made me feel satisfied. It was one of the most exciting days of my life. And the day ended in a complete success.
